Here are some things you can try if you’re having trouble connecting:
- Make sure your hardware is compatible.
- To run the Skype software, your computer should have an Intel Core 2GHz or faster processor with 1GB or more of RAM. Many netbooks, including ones using the Intel Atom, are too slow to run Video Calling successfully.
- You may want to try a different computer if yours contains a known slow chip. These include Intel Atom, Intel Pentium D, and AMD64 CPUs.
- Check your network.
- Some wireless networks are spotty. If it’s possible to avoid wireless, it’s good to give that a shot.
- If you're using a dial-up network, try switching to broadband. We recommend 500kbps upstream and downstream.
- Some corporate networks block Skype traffic which can prevent the service from fully operating.
